Psalm readings.

As I mentioned a few blog ago I have started reading three chapters of my bible everyday and I have started with the Psalms. What I love about them is David who wrote them was human and he struggled to but he overcome. For instance :
Psalm 13
For the director of music. A psalm of David. 1 How long, O LORD ? Will you forget me forever? How long will you hide your face from me?
2 How long must I wrestle with my thoughts and every day have sorrow in my heart? How long will my enemy triumph over me?
3 Look on me and answer, O LORD my God. Give light to my eyes, or I will sleep in death;
4 my enemy will say, "I have overcome him," and my foes will rejoice when I fall.
5 But I trust in your unfailing love; my heart rejoices in your salvation.
6 I will sing to the LORD, for he has been good to me.

In this psalm david laments and despairs and seems to feel lost, yet he knows that God is there a commits to trusting him. I relate to David in that I know that when I feel lost and alone I am not that God is there with me always. David connects to me in this and many other senses so I thought it would be a good place to start. In today's world and society is it easy to despair because we are constantly bombarded with it one the news story after story. Each day we face it when we compare and judge each other. Her kids are so much more well behaved then man, She looks so good in that outfit and I haven't done my laundry all week. We are also self critical over the smallest things. We forget that God is there through it all and he didn't call us to be of this world. He called us to be set apart. There is a line from a song called joy that I believe is by newsboys that says: "The world don't give it and the world don't take it away" Just food for thought.
God Bless,

Hello there Ashley -
I am so glad that you have joined me for the BRC! I'm so excited so many have. (I hope to be more active on it as some of the people have!)

You are right - a lot fo times the Psalms that King David wrote were out of despair because he felt so lost and alone. Yet in all his troubles, he knew God was by his side no matter what he did.

I am going to be posting trusting God using the place in Genesis where God wishes Abraham to sacrifice Isaac his only son as a burnt offering to Him. I love that story of faith! Be looking out for it!

Love,
Rachel
